What On Earth Is This?

This is a tag. Tags can be read by smartphones. You might see these on certain Piedmont Credit Union publications. They can contain various types of information. This particular tag contains the entire text of the front page article about our "29th" Rockin' Birthday Party. If you scan it, you can refer back to it right from your smartphone. Some tags might link to a web page where you can get more information about whatever it is you're reading. Look for more tags in this newsletter and have fun finding out what's in them!

To read a tag your smartphone needs to have a data connection and a special application from Mircosoft called Tag Reader. You can get it from the website http://gettag.mobi. Keep an eye out later this year for something very fun and potentially very rewarding from Piedmont Credit Union regarding these little tags!

ID's & Social Security Cards?  It's Nothing Personal

If, in the course of adding a new type of account to your Piedmont Credit Union membership, a staff member asks to make a copy of your ID or other documents, even though they know perfectly well who you are, please don't hold it against them. They are only complying with the many federal regulations which govern financial institutions in the 21st century.

The PATRIOT Act, enacted by Congress after September 11, 2001, has many requirements of financial institutions, not the least of which is to obtain positive photo identification for each and every person who conducts business there. So if we ask for your ID or for verification of your Social Security Number it most likely means that you became a member before the regulation was enacted. Of course, we have stringent policies and procedures to safeguard this information. Thank you for your understanding.

Welcome Ed Glass

Piedmont Credit Union is thrilled to welcome our newest staff member, Ed Glass. Ed is the new President of the credit union. If his face looks familiar it is because he is not new to the credit union. Ed has served on our Board of Directors since 2002. So now he has been part of the credit union in every capacity: Member, Board Member, and Employee. Feel free to stop by and meet him anytime at the credit union or at the Annual Meeting on May 12th.

Thanks For All The Love

This past Valentine's Day we asked you for some help and you delivered. You, our members & friends, brought almost 500 pounds of items to send a little taste of home to soldiers on active duty!

Thanks to you, our Send a Little Love to a Serviceman Care Package Drive was a huge success! There's a base in Afghanistan that is going to be very, very happy when that shipment comes in! "Thank You!" to everyone who contributed and especially those teachers who helped by offering this opportunity to their classrooms & clubs.
