Today at the credit union I was looking through old files for some paperwork from the very earliest days of our credit union. The credit union saves EVERYTHING! To my surprise my fingers shuffled across an old car title! It was a valid title for a 1977 Datsun 280 Z. The loan was made in 1978 and evidently the member stopped making payments but the credit union was unable to ever track the car down.
Being a pack rat is a requirement for credit union records retention. But what about your personal life? What are you hanging on to at home that is just taking up space? Every now and then I find myself going through things at home that I haven't looked at in a while. So while I am a pack rat by nature, I do get a tremendous sense of relief when I can just get rid of some stuff! What about you? Are you a pack rat? Or do Goodwill, Salvation Army, and DAV know your name and recognize your car when you drive up?
