On May 14, 2009 the members of Piedmont Credit Union held their 40th Anniversary Annual Meeting! The theme of the meeting was "What My Credit Union Means To Me." Take a look at the video recap of the meeting below...
Kirby Wright, Board Chairman, opened with a breif history of the credit union. From its humble beginnings in Matt Nelson's basement, the credit union has grown to serve over 6,500 members and offers competitive rates and financial services. Matt Nelson, our founding member, spoke about the difference that another credit union made in his young adult years and how after that he felt called to start a credit union. He and other local educators took action and started what today is called Piedmont Credit Union. He praised our staff, the dedication of our membership, and shared a little about the early days of Piedmont Credit Union.
Sherri Crumpton spoke about how the credit union was instrumental in helping her keep things together during a time when her life turned upside down. Jeff Cumbo spoke about how using Piedmont Credit Union is very different from using a mainstream financial institution.
The dinner was catered by Country Kitchen. Entertainment was provided by The River City Quartet. The kids had a great time competing in the First Ever CUX-Games. Then they got to wrap things up with a magic show by The Amazing Wade Hopkins. There were approximately 300 members and guests in attendance.
