How Much Money Could You Save?
We're always talking about how much money you can save by being a credit union member. Recently we compiled some cold hard data to make that point a little more clearly. For your review we present a few real-life examples of how our members have saved money over the past few months.
Credit union member Cecil had a car loan with a lender which specializes in dealer financing. We calculated that his interest rate was more than 23% with payments of $599 per month! That's a very high price to pay for the "convenience" of dealer financing. By letting Piedmont CU refinance his car loan at our much lower rate of 9.25% Cecil will save more than $5,200 over the life of the loan! And his payment dropped to $520 per month! That is even after the addition of Piedmont Credit Union Mechanical Breakdown Coverage for 48 months or 48,000 miles.
Consider credit union member, June, who also let us refinance her car loan which she had at another lender. Her interest rate was 14.70% with payments of $342. What was the Piedmont CU interest rate? 6.50%. Her payment dropped to $279 with a total savings of more than $3,700 over the life of the loan!
Those are just two examples. Take a look at these other real-life examples of credit union members saving money…
| Name | Total Amount Saved | Monthly Payment Reduction |
| Jackie | $1,497 | $21 |
| Curtis | $4,591 | $103 |
| Jamette | $732 | $50 |
| Gail | $429 | $55 |
| Charlie | $1,971 | None (reduced term by 7 months) |
| Charlie's Other Car | $2,134 | None (reduced term by 7 months) |
Overall, during the months of July and August there were 8 credit union members who moved their car loans from other high interest lenders. Collectively these members will save more than $20,200 over the life of their loans and their monthly payments decreased by an average of $46.
Clearly, there's no better place to get an automobile loan than your local member owned Piedmont Credit Union! How much money could you save?
