If you are a youth member of Piedmont CU (12 years old or younger), then you’re automatically signed up for the Money Monkey Super Savers Kids Club.
That’s super news, but there’s still more! You’ve earned 100 bonus Banana Bucks just for being a member. What are Banana Bucks? Why, they’re only the coolest virtual currency ever! In the very near future you will be able to login at the all new Money Monkey website to keep track of your Banana Bucks and redeem them for awesome prizes.
You earn Banana Bucks simply by doing smart things with your money. You’ll get some every time you make a deposit to your share savings account. You can also get them by participating in different kids club events or by referring your friends to join the club too.
Did you know that Piedmont Credit Union is owned by the people who use its services? This means that your credit union is just that, Yours. Our not-for-profit, volunteer driven structure is drastically different from the conventional financial institution. It means that any revenue generated by the credit union goes back to you in the form of free services, low loan rates, and good savings rates. It also means that many of our members (a.k.a. owners) volunteer their time and talent to help make their credit union better. Volunteers are the heart of any credit union.
If you would like to contribute your time and talent to benefit your credit union here are a few ways to do just that...
- Serving on the Board of Directors or a Committee. (Supervisory, Loan Review, Marketing & Education, Scholarship, etc.)
- Helping with credit union events like the Christmas Parade.
- Being the voice for your credit union at your workplace as well as a voice for your co-workers at the credit union.
- Kids Club Events like the Super Saver Celebration.
- Teaching or helping teach financial education classes, or mentoring other members.
If you are interested, or if you have other ideas that will make your credit union better, don’t hesitate to send us a message and let us know.
Join us as we celebrate another successful year of meeting our members financial needs and helping their dreams become reality. The Piedmont Credit Union Annual Meeting will be held on Thursday, May 10th at 6:00 pm. (Doors open at 5:30pm)

April 22 - 28 is Youth Savings Week. To kick things off we’re having a...
Super Saver Celebration!
On Saturday, April 21st from noon until 4pm we’ll have loads of fun right here at the credit union. Try your hand at the Remote Control Racecar Rally, a huge miniature speedway. (How’s that for an oxymoron?) Or slide in to save the day on the Giant Super Saver Slide. Dress like your favorite super hero and win our Super Saver Costume Contest! You can even have a photo taken of yourself as you save the world! Now all this will probably work up an appetite so squash that with some hot dogs & chips. There will be door prizes and Money Monkey Super Savers will earn 100 bonus Banana Bucks just for stopping by.
We are currently in the early stages of upgrading our website. Since Piedmont Credit Union belongs to you, we think our website should reflect a piece of who you, our members, are. Part of the new design may incorporate photographs from the local area. If you are a photographer or enthusiast and have some nice shots that you think reflect the spirit of the piedmont community, then please share them at www.piedmontcu.org/photos. You will have the option to receive credit for the photo if it is used.
We also welcome your suggestions as we develop the new website. Simply share those with us at www.piedmontcu.org/website.
It’s Time to Spring-Clean those file cabinets!
Piedmont CU will host a free community shred day during the Super Saver Celebration on Saturday, April 21st from 12noon until 4pm. Commonwealth Document Management will bring the shred truck and do the heavy lifting so you don’t have to. We’re excited to offer this service to the community and to pair it with the Super Saver Celebration. Why, we’ve even written a short children’s story about it!
Piedmont CU is happy to announce a new partnership with Banzai! Banzai offers a turnkey financial education course for middle and high school teachers to present in their classrooms. There is no cost to the teacher or the school. Piedmont CU will cover the cost of the curriculum! If you are a teacher, take a look at what Banzai offers by visiting http://piedmont.teachbanzai.com.
Congratulations to loan officer Miracle Hopkins for reaching the milestone of 12 years! Ed Glass, Piedmont CU President, also celebrates his first year anniversary.
This past February Piedmont CU set a record for loans made, but this was not the greatest milestone which we celebrate. Congratulations to Sandra Strader who has now served the Piedmont Credit Union membership for 20 years!
